Syllabus Analysis Project

Over the past two months, I have had the opportunity to observe and reflect on an honors level English 1102 class, taught by Dr. Rochelle Harris Cox. In this course, I’ve been able to tie in many different threshold concepts reflected in the book Naming What We Know: Threshold Concepts of Writing Studies and make connections between what I have been learning in Composition Theory and Pedagogy and real-life applications. After analyzing the course syllabus and scaffolded annotated bibliography assignment, I have gained knowledge on threshold concepts I would like to implement in my own classroom come fall 2021, and understand better how my mentor approaches her classes.
